GCSC's VPA presents Third Annual Ceramics Symposium

03/29/2017

ceramics symposiumThe Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College is proud to present the third annual Ceramics Symposium: Crafting Communities. The hands-on event will be held April 6 - 9 in the Amelia G. Tapper Center for the Arts.

The symposium will consist of interactive workshops, lectures, panel discussions and demonstrations from a diverse group of professional artists including Forrest Sincoff Gard, Nicole Hays, Erica Passage, Tyler Nicholson, Tammy Marinuzzi, Cheyenne Chapman Rudolph and Mandy Yourick.

Focusing on the intersection of community building and artistic practice, the artists will share the ways they use art as a means to engage communities. They will present their artwork along with a demonstration or workshop showcasing their creative methods or latest project. The topics are diverse and include adventuring with handmade pottery, walking the distance to Pondicherry, India and the need for play in adulthood.

General admission to the event is $60 and $40 for seniors over 60. GCSC and high school students in Bay, Gulf and Franklin counties will be admitted free (with valid student ID) and all other students are $20. Additional information and online registration is available at www.gulfcoast.edu/ceramicssymposium.
