GCSC to Host Hot Topic Deliberative Forums
Gulf Coast State College is hosting two deliberative forums on important hot button issues and will feature specially trained GCSC student moderators. The forums are designed to educate participants about key issues in a comfortable environment where everyone can express their opinions and hear the opinions of others.
The Medical Marijuana Forum will take place on Wednesday, November 2 at 6:00 p.m. in GCSC’s Sarzin Lecture Hall, Language & Literature Building. The forum will discuss the proposed Amendment 2 on the Florida ballot. Students from the Honors Bio-Medical Ethics and American Government classes will moderate the forum.
The Deliberative Forum on Healthcare will be held Thursday, November 3 at 6:00 p.m. in the Advanced Technology Center, Room 303. The forum will discuss the broad topic of responsibility for health care costs and spending, as well as a more specific issue facing Florida residents: how federal Medicaid dollars impact in-state hospital operations. The discussion will be moderated by Honors Bio-Medical Ethics and American Government students, a recent graduate of the Deliberative Democracy program and representatives of the Bay County Chapter League of Women Voters.
Both forums are free and open to the public, and whether you are for, against or undecided on the issues, the forums will be informative for all. For additional information or questions, please contact Elizabeth Trentanelli at firstname.lastname@example.org or 769.1551, ext. 2831.
