Each student brings a unique set of strengths and experiences to the College, and students with disabilities are no exception. While many learn in different ways, their differences do not imply inferior capabilities. There is no need to dilute curriculum or to reduce course requirements for students with a disabilities. However, reasonable accommodations may be needed, as well as modifications in the way information is presented and in methods of testing and evaluation. Faculty will be aided in these efforts by drawing upon the student’s own prior learning experiences, using available College and department resources and collaborating with Student Accessibility Resources. To this end, faculty and staff are asked to assist SAR in making and documenting the appropriate academic adjustments, which will assist in our accountability efforts.

The Testing Center at Gulf Coast State College provides live proctoring services for either online or paper examinations. Instructors who desire to have their exams administered by a trained proctor will need to fill out the Internal Exam Cover Sheet.

Librarians offer course-integrated instruction specific to your student learning outcomes. We can visit your class both onsite and virtually, or embed an instructional module in your Canvas course. We also create customized Library Guides and can assist with finding Open Educational Resources. Instructions for accessing the Chronicle of Higher Education and Wall Street Journal Online are available from our Faculty Guide.
