Transient Students

Transient students can be visiting students who are attending Gulf Coast State College (GCSC), or GCSC students who are attending another college or university.

Visiting Student Applying to GCSC

An undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited collegiate institution can enroll full time as a non-degree seeking transient student at GCSC and transfer credits back to their parent (host) institution.

  • Provide Transient Authorization paperwork from parent (host) institution to GCSC Enrollment Services office.
  • Apply to Gulf Coast State College as a non-degree seeking Transient Student.
  • Pay $10.00 college application fee.
  • It is the visiting student's responsibility to provide their host school's approval -- Transient Student Authorization -- to the Graduation Specialist at GCSC.
  • Upon approval the student will receive a Welcome Email from GCSC.

Students currently enrolled in a Florida State College or University may earn credits to transfer back to their parent institution by attending GCSC as a non-degree seeking student.

  • The parent (host) institution determines the residency status of the student and whether instate or out of state course fees apply.
  • Complete an online Transient Student Admission Application through Florida Shines to attend Gulf Coast State College.
  • Florida Shines will send for the permission from both your parent (host) and visiting institutions.
  • Request up to four courses on one application.
  • No application fee through Florida Shines.

GCSC Students Applying as Transient Elsewhere

If you are currently enrolled at Gulf Coast State College — we are your parent (host) institution. In order for a GCSC student to be a transient student they must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an undergraduate student in good standing with the college.
  • Have at least 15 credit hours.
  • Have at least a 2.0 GPA
  • If enrolled in a BAS program must have permission from the Program Advisor.

If you do not attend the college you chose it is your responsibility to submit a Letter of Non-Attendance from your "HOST" college (on college letterhead) to the GCSC Graduation Specialist   asmith117@gulfcoast.edu,  BEFORE THE END OF CURRENT SEMESTER.

Students currently enrolled in a Florida State College or University may earn credits to transfer back to their parent institution by attending GCSC as a non-degree seeking student.

  • The parent (host) institution determines the residency status of the student and whether instate or out of state course fees apply.

GCSC students can apply to out of state colleges or universities as a transient student by completing the GCSC dynamic form Transient Student Authorization online. This link can also be found on the Admission Forms page.

  • The GCSC Graduation Specialist will notify the student via email of approval or will provide an explanation for the denial.
  • It is the GCSC student's responsibility to provide the approval -- Transient Student Authorization -- to the visiting school they will to attend.
