General Guidelines for Non F-1 Students
This is a list of general guidelines for immigrant students to assist with the Gulf Coast State College Admissions process.
It is the responsibility of each individual to maintain their VISA status and be aware of their own VISA restrictions. For questions about immigration status or restrictions, contact the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. In most cases the principal may only engage in Continuing Education courses.
If you are eligible to study at Gulf Coast State College please complete the admissions application.
General Information for Nonimmigrants
Nonimmigrants who are attending school incidental to their primary purpose for being in the United States may attend part-time or full-time (unless otherwise noted). However, these nonimmigrants must abide by the rules of their current status and cannot exceed their stay in the United States for the purposes of completing a program or a degree.
Spouses and children who derive their status from that of the principal may not remain in the United States beyond the period approved for the principal in order to continue schooling. In most cases, children lose their derivative status at the age of 21 and must apply for a change to F-1 if they wish to remain in the United States to continue their course of study.
Florida Residency for In-State Tuition
Student in categories that are eligible to apply for Florida Residency must complete the Florida Residency Form. Both the student and the claimant must show proof of eligible immigration status.
