Gulf Coast State College Amelia Center Gallery hosts a number of artist talks, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops throughout the year. These events are an integral part of the educational mission of the gallery, which offer the students and the community a chance to interact with the artists, explore the creative process, and learn new, innovative approaches to making art. Holly Ann Scoggins

Painter Holly Ann Scoggins was born and raised in a small abandoned cotton mill town in Western North Carolina. In her lecture Holly discusses how her southern upbringing has richly infused her paintings, which displays a dark romanticism that exposes spiritual and circumstantial revelations through imagery that is dissolving, veiled, or oddly composed
Amanda Small
March 29 – April 21
Installation artist, Amanda Small, divides her time between U.S. and Denmark. Her living arrangement and her extensive travels are a major influence on the themes of her work. In this lecture Amanda talks about her work as it deals with ideas of space, time, and memory.
Jeremy Chandler
February 15, 2013Photographic artist Jeremy Chandler is a north Florida native. He has long been interested in how the culture and landscape of the region has shaped his own notions of self. Through portraiture, landscape and narrative imagery, much of Jeremy's work is informed by his own relationship to place as well as a curiosity in how it is used and viewed by others who inhabit it. In his lecture Jeremy traces the development of his work as it moves back and forth between a documentary and a more directorial approach.
Eva Champagne

Jill Foote-Hutton, The Art of Politics

As a guest curator of The Art of Politics Mrs. Foote-Hutton, presents a lecture on the work in the exhibit and places it in the wider context of the long-standing tradition of artist as a social critic.
Paul Brent, The Business of Art
March 9, 2012Paul Brent is a Panama City artist whose work is known worldwide. He is often referred to as America’s best-known coastal artist. His original artwork is licensed with over fifty manufacturers to produce a variety of products, from posters to textiles, to house wares and more. Mr. Brent talks about his experience in the field, how to get into the art business, and issues like marketing, branding, and licensing.
Renee Audette
