Vantage Point

February 28 – April 3, 2020

Created by Montana based artist Maggy Rozycki Hiltner, Vantage Point is an 111 feet embroidery that explores our relationship with the environment. The embroidery is full of depictions of blue sky, green grass and white clouds, however as one begins to look closely more sinister imagery begins to emerge. There are discarded oil drums by the shore, factories billowing smoke, a river on fire. There are also snippets of text with words like “DDT”, “Horizon”, “Memory”, “bioaccumulation”. The scenery, combined with the words asks the audience to consider the toll our needs, and the resources needed to satisfy those needs, take on the world around us.
