Deferments

Fully approved financial aid automatically "authorizes" toward tuition and fees. Authorized financial aid can be viewed on your student account in MyGCSC / My Student Dashboard. If your authorized financial aid amount is greater than or equal to the total tuition & fees you owe, then the Business Office won't drop you for non-payment (which is a process they nickname "purge").

Students who aren't fully approved for enough financial aid may send an email to FA@GULFCOAST.EDU (from their official student address) or visit the financial aid office in person to request a tuition and fee "deferment."  Tuition and fee deferment requests sent to the financial aid office will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis per Florida Statute 1009.27 and Gulf Coast State College Manual of Policy (MOP) 7.022.  If you are approved for such a deferment, but your financial aid does not eventually disburse for any reason, then you are responsible for all outstanding tuition and fee charges.
